  of January 1, 2002. It is intended as a general summary of your Plan; some details have been omitted to
  keep it brief and simple. If there is any inconsistency between this summary and the Pension Plan Text,
  the terms of the Pension Plan Text and applicable Provincial and/or Federal Legislation shall prevail.

  This Pension Plan information applies to all active Plan members as at January 1, 2003.
 

UNITE HERE Local 47 Pension Plan -
Summary of Historical Benefit Increases

  The Board of Trustees of the UNITE HERE Local 47 Pension Plan is proud to be able to continually provide
  benefit increases to plan members.  The most recent benefit increase was effective January 1, 2007 and
  came at a time when numerous other multi-employer pension plans in Alberta were reducing benefits. 
  The UNITE HERE Local 47 Pension Plan is in sound financial condition and the Trustees hope to be able to
  provide further increases in the future.

  A summary of benefit increases since January 1, 1987 is as follows:

1.           Effective January 1, 1990 -  the accrued monthly pension for service prior to 1990 was increased
by 15% for all active and terminated-vested members.  In addition, the benefit accrual rate for
credited hours earned after January 1, 1990 was increased by over 46% compared
to the rate in effect in 1989. 

2.           Effective January 1, 1991 -  the benefit accrual rate for credited hours earned after 1990 was
further increased by over 72% compared to the benefit accrual rate for hours earned in 1990. 

3.           Effective January 1, 1996 -  the accrued monthly pensions were increased by 12% for all active
and terminated-vested members, as well as all pensioners.  In addition, the benefit accrual rate
for credited hours after January 1, 1996 was also increased by 12%. 

4.           Effective January 1, 1999 -  the monthly pension for all pensioners as of December 31, 1999 was
increased by 15%.  In addition, the accrued monthly pension for all active and terminated-vested
members on January 1, 2000 was increased by 15%.  Finally, the benefit accrual rate for credited
hours after January 1, 1999 was also increased by 15%.

5.           Effective January 1, 2001 and May 1, 2001 -  the benefit accrual rate for credited hours after
January 1, 2001 was reduced by approximately 22%; however, effective May 1, 2001 the benefit
accrual rates for hours worked at time and one-half and at double time were increased by 50%
and 100%, respectively, compared to the rate for regular hours. 

6.           Effective January 1, 2002 -  the monthly pension for all pensioners as of December 31, 2002
was increased by 15%.  In addition, the accrued monthly pension for all active and terminated-vested
members on January 1, 2003 was increased by 15%.  Finally, the benefit accrual rate for credited
hours after January 1, 2002 was also increased by 15%. 

7.           January 1, 2005 -  the monthly pension for all pensioners as of December 31, 2005 was increased
by 15%.  In addition, the accrued monthly pension for all active and terminated-vested members
on January 1, 2006 was increased by 15%.  Finally, the benefit accrual rate for credited hours after
January 1, 2005 was also increased by 15%.  In addition to these increases, the Trustees also decided
apply the same benefit rate for credited hours in 1990 as was being applied to credited hours
from 1991 to 2000.  This almost doubled the accrued monthly pension for credited hours worked in 1990.

8.           January 1, 2007 -  the monthly pension for all pensioners as of June 30, 2007 was increased by 10%. 
In addition, the accrued monthly pension for all active and terminated-vested members on
July 1, 2007 was increased by 10%.  Finally, the benefit accrual rate for credited hours after
January 1, 2007 was also increased by 10%.
